Scholarship Recipients

 

 

2004 Allen Family Scholarship recipients:

 

Trey Cooper

 The great-great-grandson of Rev. George W. Allen,  he is a student at Florida State University pursuing the double major of business entrepreneurship and apparel design.

 

Dora McIver

 She's the great-great-granddaughter of Mary Allen Carey and a student at Coastal Georgia Community College, with plans to transfer to Agnes Scott and pursue a medical degree with emphasis on pediatrics.

 

Donna Allen Moore

 The great-granddaughter of Mary Allen Carey, she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in human resources management at St. Leo's University with a 2005 expected graduation date.

 

Updates on 2002 scholarship recipients:

 

Amy Dawkins - 2002

Amy is currently interning with pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline as a pediatric vaccine sales representative in the Chicago area.  She has successfully completed all academic course work necessary to earn her MBA from Florida A&M University, and she will graduate magna cum laude in May of 2005 with a 3.562 GPA.  Upon graduation, Amy plans to take corporate America by storm with a marketing/advertising career.  She is the daughter of Harry and Carmen Dawkins of Miami, and the great-granddaughter of James A. Allen.

 

 

Tangela Lusain-Johnson - 2002

Tangela earned her nursing degree at Washington University Medical Center in May of 2003.  She is a Critical Care nurse working in the Intensive Care Unit, and she also performs community home health nursing with Russian, Bosnian and Vietnamese clients with the help of a translator.  She's currently studying Russian and hopes to learn two additional languages.  Her long-term goals include pursuing a graduate nursing degree, and she is currently enrolled in Jacksonville University.  Tangela is the daughter of Theresa and Joseph Lusain of Key West, and the great, great-granddaughter of Rev. George W. Allen.
